FAQ's

Why RCF?

Rose City Fitness is more than a Pilates studio, we're a safe space for people of all genders, colors, sizes and flexibility ranges to feel comfortable in movement. Our overall goal is to help every single body move better in their daily lives and favorite activities.

What even is reformer Pilates?

  • Created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1920s, Pilates uses controlled movements and rhythmic breathing to balance muscles, enhance posture, and stabilize the joints.

  • Reformer Pilates is a dynamic, low-impact workout utilizing contemporary Pilates principles performed on a "reformer". It uses a sliding carriage, springs for adjustable resistance, and straps to build full-body strength, flexibility, core stability, and posture. Because the springs can be adjusted to support your needs and movements, reformer Pilates is malleable and accessible to any body. It can be safely modified for absolute beginners, pre/postnatal individuals, and those recovering from injuries, while also being easily scaled into a specialized strength workout for elite athletes. *All of our instructors are fully certified in classical and/or contemporary Pilates, with at least 500 completed hours of comprehensive training.

I'm new to Pilates, where do I start?

Welcome! We love newbies and can't wait to watch those nerves met away once you start. We recommend starting with any mixture of Form classes(intro to reformer) and Dynamic Fusion classes(mat & reformer fusion). Form is the perfect starting point and an essential class to revisit. This class will help you master the basics, understand cues you’ll hear in each class, learn the importance of breath, and increase overall body awareness. Dynamic fusion utilizes the fundamental Pilates principles on the mat & reformer- strategically contrasting and challenging your muscle memory with all that you know, love and begin to learn on each apparatus.

I'm coming off of an injury/surgery, how do I start?

Once you feel ready and have been cleared by a doctor for group Pilates classes, shoot us an email with your clearance letter and any helpful information about your background, injury/ailment. We can accommodate for anything, but a heads up will give us time to make sure your workout is individually curated to fit your needs! If you or your doctor prefer that you start with private sessions, just reach out and we'll get you scheduled.

What is the Policy, in a nutshell?

In a nutshell?

  • We have a 2 minute grace period after the class start time before the door is locked. This is strict because it is a distraction, because everyone in the room abides by the same grace period and -most importantly- because we take your safety very seriously.

    • Our studio has paid street parking in the immediate surrounding area, with free street parking on 26th. Give yourself enough time to account for any traffic and finding parking for some stress-free 'me time'.

  • We have a 12 hour late cancelation policy to respect not only your time, but the instructor's time. Late cancelations result in a $25 fee after the first "oops".

  • No-shows result in a $40 fee as they cause your instructor to worry about you, they take a spot from your Pilates friends on the waitlist and it's just bad form to ghost.

  • Be kind, or go elsewhere. 🌹
